About

Hi, I’m Havilah, wife to Josh and mom of our three kiddos.

I wear lots of hats these days – household manager, chef, teacher, nurse, planner, organizer, chauffeur – all the things that fall under the umbrella of Stay At Home Mom.

I grew up in a military family –  and as a result of all the moving my mom decided to homeschool us. I liked the independence and flexibility and stuck with it all the way through high school!

When I was 12 years old I got “bit by the ballet bug” and decided I wanted to become a professional ballerina. God made it happen and I enjoyed a six year career at Texas Ballet Theater in Fort Worth, Texas. Shortly after that I moved to Pittsburgh, PA and met the man who would become my husband. Meanwhile I enjoyed a ballet teaching career and became a ballet class accompanist (someone who plays live music for ballet classes).

Underneath the artistic pursuits I  had an ongoing interest in health and wellness. From innocently reading nutrition labels as a six year old and warning my family of the dangers of partially hydrogenated oils, to striving for the ideal ballet physique, to re-learning everything about nutrition after miscarriage – I’ve been down all the rabbit holes. If I’ve learned anything about health, it’s that most of it is spiritual/mental, and the rest is just being realistic and doing your best with food and movement the way God designed. And to use supplements/professional help when necessary. I truly believe God designed food to taste GOOD, so if you came for celery juice smoothies and kale salads, this is probably not your place.

My other passions and hobbies include cooking (especially baking), sewing, gardening, eco-friendly living, minimalism, organizing, asking hard questions and researching them, sourcing local food, and learning languages on Duolingo.

To sum up how this can be of benefit to YOU: my goal is to bring traditional homemaking skills to today’s moms in a way that’s doable for busy lifestyles. Because we can’t do all the things, but we CAN do the things that bring us joy and benefit our family’s health and well being.

My hope is that as you read my blog and explore the resources, you feel empowered and encouraged in your pursuit of a healthy life without overwhelm!

Let’s be realistically holistic together!
